For the first time, the Southern Illinois Music Festival includes TWO complete and fully staged operas, concluding with Mozart’s great comedy, The Abduction from the Seraglio, updated to a Star Trek-like setting. Directed by Josh Shaw, it features soprano, Laura Alonso as Constanza, tenor Brian Cheney as Belmonte, the great Korean bass, Won Cho as Osmin, and the Southern Illinois Music Festival chorus and dancers. See this performance Friday night or Sunday afternoon in Carterville as the final event of the 2014 Southern Illinois Music Festival.
