The Southern Illinois Music Festival and the SIUC Summer Music Festival form a wonderful opportunity for high school students to study and experience music in a picturesque college setting. World-class performances by the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and distinguished national and international soloists inspire our musicians, who may attend all performances free of charge. Students attend master classes and private lessons, and perform in large ensemble concerts and chamber music recitals.

Participants in the two-week camps may enter the 2008 Southern Illinois Music Festival Solo Competition, winner(s) of which perform with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra.

The recreational facilities of Southern Illinois University Carbondale are available for campers' use as are the air-conditioned residence halls and food services. A professional staff is with the students at all times for the educational and recreational activities and housing offered during their stay. Evening activities may include swimming, bowling, movies or theater productions, always supervised by our staff. Some of these activities may include additional charges Students who choose to commute to camp are invited to participate in all evening activities.

Camp applications must be filled out completely and mailed along with the $50 application deposit. Tuition balance is due at the first day of camp registration. Students will be considered based upon their audition tapes and music teacher recommendation, and in the order in which their applications are received.

Music teachers who send five or more students to the camps will receive two festival passes for all events.

Come join us for one or two weeks of fine music, challenging instruction and great friendships. Our goal is to provide the highest quality musical and social experience possible on the picturesque SIUC campus.
